Courses - General
- Each day is completely different and set depending on the day's weather conditions.
- Most days will be spent at flying sites or our training hill.
- We may move around to different sites throughout the day as the wind direction changes.
- On days when the conditions aren't right for flying, we use this 'down time' for theory classes at our office.
- Training typically starts around 8am - 9am, although there may be a few earlier starts on some days if the conditions are good for certain flying sites.
- We take a break at lunchtime for around an hour each day.
- Days typically end around 5pm but it could be earlier or later - all depends on the weather!
This may be okay, however we cannot guarantee that missing days won't affect a student's ability to meet all the theoretical or practical requirements of their course. Each day's training is tailored to the weather conditions, so missing any part of the course could potentially impact your ability to achieve all the requirements for license issue. We strongly recommend attending every day of the course where possible.
No, this is not possible. Our beginner courses are 'straight-through' courses over 9 consecutive days (paragliding) and 14 consecutive days (paramotoring). We believe that training over multiple blocks spread across a longer period or on weekends only can disrupt the continuity of learning, potentially leading to a reduction in skill retention, a dip in confidence, and slower progress. Unsuitable weather conditions are also much more likely to cause delays in course completion. These factors are why we don’t provide the option to split our courses across multiple blocks or on weekends only.
We rely on suitable weather conditions for the safe progression of our flight training. Our courses allow for ‘bad weather days’ with theory done on days that are not suitable for practical training. It is uncommon for students to not achieve the requirements for license issue by the end of a course due to adverse weather, however it is a possibility. If a student has not met the requirements for license issue by the end of a course due to unsuitable weather conditions, students can complete their course by joining a future course within 6 months of the original course commencement, at no additional charge.
Students taking our Learn To Paraglide course, Skydiver / Hang Glider Conversion course or Learn To Paramotor course must register with SAFA on a New Student Pilot Membership. The cost is $32 (not included in our course fees) and is payable by each student directly to SAFA upon registration. The SAFA New Student Pilot membership is valid for 30 days. You will be provided with information on how to register for your student membership on Day 1 of your course.
Once you have successfully completed your course you will need to register for a full pilot membership with SAFA.
We’ve been successfully operating since 2012, training thousands of students within our 9-day paragliding and 14-day paramotoring course structures, so we know that it is absolutely achievable to develop confident, safe, and competent pilots that meet the SAFA PG2 (paragliding) and PPG (paramotoring) licence requirements within these timeframes.
It's our duty and professional responsibility to ensure our students are fully competent and safe pilots. We will sign off students for license issuance when they satisfy the SAFA requirements and when we are fully confident in their ability to fly competently and with the highest levels of safety.
As with any flight school offering similarly structured courses, license issuance is successful for the vast majority of students, however it does rely on suitable weather conditions and students meeting required competency standards. More information on these situations are explained in our T&Cs.
- Sturdy shoes.
- Clothes you can move comfortably in (e.g. active wear or roomy pants that you can easily crouch in). We recommend avoiding jeans.
- In summer you may want to cover up, so we recommend bringing a light weight, long sleeve top.
- A light weight jacket as it can be cooler at higher altitudes, even during summer.
- A heavier jacket is crucial during the cooler months.
- Hat (optional).
- We supply helmets, but if you would prefer to have your own, by all means bring it. A certified generic bike helmet is fine.
Food is not provided during our courses.
We are a short 5 minute walk from the centre of Laurieton where there is a Coles supermarket and various cafes and restaurants for you to buy your own food.
We usually take a 1 hour lunch break each day. There are picnic tables in our front garden you can eat at with our other students.
The course will start at 9am on Day 1. Please meet in the front garden of our base at 3 Mill Street, Laurieton, 2443.
For our Learn To Paraglide Course and our Skydiver/Hang Glider Conversion Course, we supply the gear.
For our Learn To Paramotor Course, our Paragliding Endorsements and our Paramotor Endorsements, you have the option of using gear supplied by us or using your own gear (cost differences apply).
Students booking a Learn to Paraglide course or a Skydiver / Hang Glider Conversion course are entitled to a $400 gear voucher. This gear voucher is redeemable against the purchase of a ‘Paragliding Gear Set’, consisting of 1 x new wing and 1 x new harness.
Students booking a Learn to Paramotor course are entitled to a $700 gear voucher. The gear voucher is redeemable against the purchase of a ‘Paramotor Gear Set’, consisting of 1 x new paramotor wing and 1 x new paramotor.

Courses - Paragliding
Age: The minimum age to learn to paraglide is 14 years (with parent’s consent). The minimum age to be licenced to paraglide is 15 years. There is no maximum age limit - we've taught pilots who are well into their 70s.
Weight: The maximum weight for paragliding students is 120kg.
There are a few training sites where you will walk a short distance uphill after landing to go back to the launch zone.
Note that we've taught students who are well into their 60s and 70s so the fitness requirements are very manageable.
If you have any health issues or injuries that you think may impact your ability to do the course, please get in touch with us to discuss this before booking.
The Sports Aviation Federation of Australia (SAFA) provides a structured framework for paragliding progression, offering five distinct license levels from PG1 to PG5.
As a PG2 level pilot you are licensed to fly solo under supervision. At this level, take-off and landing are also limited to flying at PG2 rated sites, ensuring that new pilots handle manageable conditions.
To fly unsupervised, you will need to meet the PG3 level requirements. More information on the SAFA licence levels can be found in this blog.
It's important to recognise that skill development doesn’t stop after an initial training course. Beginner paragliding courses in Australia are designed to bring students to the PG2 pilot level. At this level, pilots are still required to fly under supervision, ensuring they continue to gain valuable experience and build confidence in a safe and supported environment. As pilots then progress through the higher SAFA licence levels, they are required to meet increasing skill and experience requirements over time, ensuring a continuous journey of growth and development. More information on the SAFA licence levels can be found in this blog.
Courses - Paramotoring
The current minimum age restriction set by the SAFA for paramotoring is 15 years. There is no upper age limit.
Paramotoring does require a certain amount of physical activity. Anyone with a moderate level of fitness should more than able to carry out the training.
There are a few training sites where you will walk a short distance uphill after landing to go back to the launch zone.
You will need to be able to carry 27kg (approx weight of paramotor) on your back and run a short distance for take off.
Note that we've taught students who are well into their 60s and 70s so the fitness requirements are very manageable.
If you have any health issues or injuries that you think may impact your ability to do the training, please get in touch with us to discuss this before booking.
Our Foot-Launch Paramotor Endorsement, and Wheelbase Paramotor Endorsement and are for PG4 or PG5 level pilots.
There are two options for PG2 and PG3 pilots who want to learn to paramotor:
- Achieve the requirements for PG4 then book onto a paramotor endorsement. More info on the PG4 requirements can be found in this blog.
- Join our 14-day straight-through Learn To Paramotor course.
Australia has restricted airspace rulings that any PPG pilot must follow and guidelines for flying in high-density areas. Outside of controlled airspace, you are free to fly anywhere you like. Currently, Australia has a legal height limit for flying PPG which is 12,500 feet.
We can put you in touch with paramotor pilots in your local area after the course.

Tandems
- Minimum age is 11 years (no maximum age limit!).
- Weight range is between 30 - 120kg.
- Basic fitness and good general health are required for safety. If you are unsure whether you meet the requirements, contact us for an individual assessment.
Before flying, all passengers must sign an insurance waiver and SAFA (Sports Aviation Federation of Australia) membership form. This is done electronically on site with your tandem pilot. Passengers under the age of 18 years must have a parent or guardian present to sign the insurance waiver on their behalf. Refusing to complete the waiver will result in the cancellation of the flight and no refund will be given.
- Wear comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather conditions on the day. Perhaps a long sleeved top or a light jacket as it may be cooler at higher altitudes.
- Wear enclosed footwear (e.g. running shoes).
- We recommend wearing sunglasses and applying sunscreen.
NSW Tandem Flights:
We offer tandem flights year-round at various sites along the mid-north coast of NSW. Fly along the beautiful coast by Bonny Hills, Indian Head or Port Macquarie (to name a few!), or take in the breath-taking views atop North Brother Mountain or Middle Brother Mountain.
The location and time of your flight will be confirmed the day prior to your scheduled tandem flight based on forecasted wind directions and strengths.
QLD Tandem Flights:
In QLD, we offer tandem paragliding flights at Wangetti Beach (close to Cairns and Port Douglas). We fly above Rex Lookout, taking in the stunning panoramic views along the coast.
For NSW Tandem Flights:
Please email us 2-3 days before your preferred date. We will assess the weather forecast, and if the conditions look good, we will set a time and location based on the forecast.
You can buy a tandem voucher ahead of time or you can arrange payment on the day of your flight.
For QLD Tandem Flights:
Simply click 'Book Now' on the QLD Tandem Flights page and select your date and time.
Gift vouchers also available.
Tandem flights are a weather dependent activity so changes to your flight may be required if weather conditions on the day of your flight have changed or are unsuitable for flying.
We kindly ask for your patience and understanding should this situation arise – the weather is out of our control and your safety is our top priority.
Unfortunately personal cameras and phones are not permitted during the flight. A video package is available if you would like to capture your experience.
Passengers are not permitted to fly under the influence of alcohol or drugs. If we suspect this is the case then the flight will be cancelled due to safety and insurance requirements and no refund will be given.
Your friends and family are welcome to come along and take photos and videos as you prepare for your flight.
